Let's talk a little about dyslexia

Three important facts that we can all agree upon:
  1. Dyslexia is a language processing problem, not strictly a reading problem.
  2. According to NIH researchers, one in every five children has some type of dyslexia.
  3. Dyslexia and IQ are not related.

Scientists now understand the neural pathway related to reading.  This leads to three important - and related - ideas:
  1. We can now identify children at risk for developing dyslexia before they have developed reading problems and fallen behind in school.
  2. We can accurately diagnose dyslexia, regardless of age.
  3. We can help those who struggle with dyslexia with treatment programs that are proven to be effective.
